On 26 May 2016, many staff members from The Reckoner attended the Toronto Star High School Newspaper Awards at the Toronto Star Printing Plant.  The Reckoner once again won a number of awards, including Best Volunteer Newspaper (with over 15 staff) and Best Electronic Newspaper. Many individuals on The Reckoner’s fifth guard were recognized as well, for their skills in drawing, photography, and opinion and news writing.

At the event, attendees participated in a luncheon and a tour of the Toronto Star printing facility. The tour was considered the highlight of the event by many attendees. According to Marzan Hamid, a News Board writer, “”It was amazing to see the real printing process! The experience definitely gave us insight into how a real newspaper operations are run on a day to day basis.”
