On 24 and 25 February during lunch in room 217, Make a Wish hosted a Guess the Teacher fundraiser. For $1, students could come in and try to match teachers names to their baby pictures, which were put up on the wall. The purpose of this event was to fundraise money to grant the wishes of children with terminal illness, as well as spread word of Make a Wish’s cause. It was also hosted as a unique and fun event that Garneau had yet to see. “It was pretty fun to do because we got to see twenty or so teacher’s baby pictures.” said Maggie Han, grade 12. Students also got prizes at the end.

The leading guesser was Jessica Fung in Grade 11 who guessed 21/23 baby pictures correctly. When asked about her technique, she said, “I used the process of elimination but had to guess some answers as it was sometimes difficult to tell who was who. Honestly, I was probably lucky but each teacher’s department was written under each picture, which definitely helped. A friend had told me about the event a few days prior, and I thought it was interesting because you don’t get the opportunity to see teachers’ baby pictures everyday. I didn’t know there was a prize!”

Make a Wish raised $40 and will be sending a cheque to the organization at the end of the year.
