This coming Thursday, Marc Garneau will be paying a visit to MGCI. Impressed by news of our Moonbuggy team, the former astronaut has decided to come and see for himself. Marc Garneau will be meeting privately with the team led by Peter Wen, president of the club.
MGCI’s Moonbuggy team (MGMT) is Canada’s first Moonbuggy team and was created in November of 2011. It is a group of motivated students with an interest in space science. They are attempting to build a vehicle to compete in NASA’s annual Moonbuggy race, their challenge is to design a buggy that addresses the challenges faced by the original moon buggy team. The buggy will race across a half mile of rugged terrain designed to simulate the surface of the moon.
Dr. Garneau is currently campaigning for the Liberal Leadership; his platform includes innovation and youth employment. He has agreed to meet with the Reckoner for an interview. Look out for tomorrow’s article!
