Free Rapid Tests to be Distributed at 2 300 Locations Across Ontario

——————————-

From 9 February, Ontarians were able to receive free COVID-19 rapid antigen tests at the more than 2 300 grocery stores and pharmacies participating across the province. Officials announced that they plan on distributing a total of more than 40 million such tests to these stores over the next two months, but were unable to say whether they plan on extending the program past the two-month period.

The move occurs as Ontario continues its policy of limiting PCR testing eligibility to certain high-risk groups.

Participating retailers include Loblaws, Costco, Metro, Walmart, and Longo’s. [CP24][Joshua Zhuang]

73 out of 118 Conservative Politicians Vote Out O’Toole as Party Leader

——————————-

After leading the party for 18 months, Conservative leader Erin O’Toole was ousted by a 25 vote margin on 2 February. O’Toole faced criticism for the Conservative loss in the 2021 election. The Conservative caucus was also unhappy with his moderate stance on core issues, such as conversion therapy, carbon tax, abortion, COVID mandates, balanced budgets, and assault style firearms. In a resignation video posted on Twitter, O’Toole referred to his time in office as the “honour of a lifetime,” and went on to warn the next leader about being too divisive. The party will be led by interim leader Candice Bergen until they can elect a new leader. [CBC] [By Miranda Zhao]
